While several world leaders congratulated Joe Biden almost a week ago, China delayed until today to acknowledge his victory, declaring that it wanted to wait for the irrevocable results.

The slowness of the Chinese reaction may insinuate that Beijing was betting on Trump's re-election, perceived in Asian society as someone who has weakened his country, despite the fact that he contributed widely to deteriorating relations between the two world powers.
