The first electric series-production truck from Daimler has arrived: Mercedes-Benz Trucks has presented the eActros electric truck, a heavy-duty distribution truck for urban areas. The new Mercedes-Benz eActros production is planned to begin this year.

The new Mercedes-Benz eActros electric truck is powered by two electric motors, which together provide a continuous output of 330 kilowatts and a peak output of 400 kilowatts. Mercedes-Benz offers a brand-new electric truck with three or four battery packs, each with a capacity of 105 kilowatt-hours.

With the 420 kilowatt-hour battery, the truck should travel around 400 kilometres with an outside temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, partially loaded and without a trailer. The drive train works at a voltage of 400 volts and is charged to a maximum of 160 kilowatts. The 315-kilowatt-hour battery needs a little more than an hour to be charged from 20 to 80 %.

Mercedes-Benz offers the eActros as a two- or three-axle vehicle. The payload is 10.6 tons and 17.7 tons respectively. The vehicle is equipped with various security systems as a standard. These include reversing cameras instead of exterior mirrors, a turning assistant and an emergency brake assistant with pedestrian detection.

Mercedes-Benz presented the eActros in 2016 at the Commercial Vehicle IAA trade fair in Hanover. In 2018, the test operation began. 20 companies in Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and the Netherlands are using the Mercedes-Benz's electric truck. Over half a million test kilometres came together. @Mercedes-Benz.
