The 72nd edition of the Frankfurt Book Fair began on Wednesday with a series of online events. This year, the Frankfurt Book Fair will take place in an almost exclusively online format, with 4,400 digital exhibitions from 110 countries.

German Culture Minister Monika Gruetters announced on Tuesday at the opening ceremony that the German government will support the book industry with funding of up to 25 million euros.

The Frankfurt event is the largest book fair in the world in terms of the number of guest publishers and the second in the world in terms of the number of visitors.
